Change all markers in California to Yellow in a US Map

Bulk edits of map information has a “Copy Changes” feature. Select multiple rows, make a change to one row, and then click on “Copy Changes” to make the same change to all the selected rows.

For example, suppose we have a US map of locations in different states and we want to color all the markers in California to Yellow.

On your map, click on the Bulk Edits -> Markers menu item (this requires a paid subscription).

This opens up a new tab in the browser with an edit grid for all the locations on the map. Sort this grid using the “State” column, and select all rows from California. Change the “Marker” cell of one row to “Yellow” and hit “Copy Changes”. The change is propagated to all the selected rows. Pressing “Save Changes” will commit these changes.

Remove local business listings from maps

Google Maps often display local business listings. When you are searching for local businesses, this can be a useful feature. At other times, however, the business pointers can clutter the map, or worst show competitor’s business on your map!

For example, in the following map of a block around our offices, several businesses are listed, such as one Indian and one Mexican restaurant. If you are a paid subscriber, ZeeMaps will allow you to remove these business listings from your map.

Use the Map -> Settings menu to get the Map Settings page, and then select the Map Display tab to change the map display settings.

Within that, check the box that says “Remove local business listings from map”:

Remove local business listings from map
Checkbox to remove local business listings from map

Once you have set this checkbox, now if you go back to the map, the local businesses will no longer show:

No Local Business listings in map

The business listings will not show on your map as long as you have signed-up for one of our paid plans.

Secure access, radius regions, and updated Google Maps

Along with several improvements, today we  introduce some major new features for ZeeMaps:

  1. Secure https access,
  2. Radius Regions, and
  3. Updated Google Maps.

You can now access ZeeMaps using the https protocol. Google Ads will still show using the http protocol, so you may get warnings of mixed content in IE. To remove the mixed content warnings, please upgrade your account for an ads-free experience.

ZeeMaps already provides several region coloring mechanisms such as: hand-drawn, colored cities, states, countries, congressional districts, and so forth. In addition, we now support coloring a circular region on the map with a specified distance radius. Use  “Additions -> Radius Region” menu item on your map to draw a circular region on your map.

We have upgraded to the most recent version of Google Maps. You should see improved imagery and better speed across the board.

While we have tested thoroughly, there may be a few lingering inconsistencies or problems. Please let us know if your maps are not working as before.

Power users get unlimited basic map images!

Power users, i.e., ZeeMaps with upgraded accounts, enjoy additional functionality like the ability to delete or edit multiple markers at once.

We are happy to announce that in addition to the “power” functions, power users can now order unlimited basic map images (images that cost $0.95) for free! One more reason to upgrade your account now!
