From 'LDN' to 'Landan Town' or more stated, 'The Big Smoke', London is an important city, not just as the capital city of the United Kingdom, but a capital city acting as a hub of networks and more importantly a place of continuities and change. More recently, Yiddish communities have branched out, such as Stamford Hill within Hackney and also within the North-West regions of London such as Golders Green. London is a diverse city with a wide range of cultures, people and social groups. What is important about London however is the significance it has had on the Yiddish, particularly the East End, which has served an important role in the lives of the Yiddish in London, notably in districts of Whitechapel and Spitalfields.
